The main theme of this serial was to increase legal awareness among the people. Muktha, a word with roots in Sanskrit, means 'reprieve'. The director aimed to inspire civic awareness and action with stories depicting the fight for justice even against all kinds of bureaucratic and political opposition. Seetharam, who also acted as a lawyer (as CSP) in the serial. Muktha was a serial telecasted in the Kannada language on ETV Kannada.
